Yogabed is a direct to consumer mattress company, offering convenience and lower prices to their customers. I wanted to put together a report in an effort to see if there really is an advantage to buying online.
This product is a four-layer foam design that’s growing in popularity. It’s a softer foam , which is hard to find, making it ideal for side sleepers. It’s also designed to stay cool, even if you’re a hot sleeper. Read my report on this product to learn about the construction of the design, how it feels, and what key features you can expect to come across.
During my assessment of this product, I learned that it consists of four layers. The top is made of something called yoga instant response foam, a material I came to love during my trial period with this bed. It’s less than an inch thick but makes a huge difference in comfort. The second layer is 1.75” thick and is made of gel-infused foam that contours to your body and adds to the overall comfort of the sleeping surface.
My favorite layer is the 6.5” of breathable support foam. This layer helps keep the bed cool by circulating air and keeps you from sinking down too far. It’s supported by the fourth layer, a 1” final firm support foam that gives it a bit more support than the competition.
The cover is fairly basic. But what I did notice during is that it’s easy to remove and can be thrown in the washing machine. This can eliminate the need for a protector or just add more protection underneath a cover of your choice.
First Impression & Overnight Test (Firmness, Feel, & Support)
My first impression of the product was positive. I lay down to determine the firmness level. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the softest, I would rate it as a 6 or 7. You don’t sink too far into the bed but it’s not rock solid either. You might need to put in a little more effort to change sleeping positions, especially if you’re on the heavier side, but overall the design provides just the right combination of sinkage and support.
After my first night of sleep, I could feel the difference in my body. While I didn’t feel like a teenager again, my back pain didn’t slow me down when I first got up. Now that I’ve been using the product for quite some time, I almost never experience back or shoulder pain when I get up.
If you’re looking for a medium to firm design that gives your body a little hug without swallowing you up, my assessment of this product should sound pretty good. I enjoyed how it supported my body without making me feel like it was pushing me. My experience made my report very psotive.
Sinkage, Motion Transfer, & Temperature
The worst sinkage area on the Yogabed is at the edges. You probably won’t be able to sit on the edge of the bed and put on your shoes without feeling like you’re slipping. However, the sinkage in the middle of the bed is minimal.
I noticed during my Yogabed review that there is a little more bounce than most foam mattresses, making it easier to change positions and get out of bed.
The thick breathable layer of support foam helps air circulate freely thoroughly mattress. During my Yogabed review, I remained cool most nights.
Firmness and support
With almost 8” of support foam, the Yogabed is one of the best mattresses I’ve tried when it comes to support. My Yogabed review made me a believer in foam mattresses again, thanks to the incredible support I received night after night.
My report focused on several key features of the product. First, it has an advanced layered system that’s specifically designed to support your body by evenly dispersing your weight throughout the entire bed, a feature I noticed very quickly. The addition of gel helps cushion your body and has seven times greater thermal conductivity than traditional foam, meaning it helps keep your bed cool to the touch all night long. The 365-night trial gave me confidence in my purchase and the free pillows was a great bonus.
How Does It Compare?
All of these products are great options. But my experiences of the product I reviwed left me confident enough to recommend it over the competition. It’s thick, includes four layers of foam, and can help alleviate back pain faster than you thought possible.
Overall, this product left me very impressed. While the bed was a hair too soft for me, I still knew it was a high quality design. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a softer sleeping surface, especially side sleepers and average sized back and stomach sleepers. If you’re on the heavier side, it might not be the product for you. But because of its money-back guarantee, I would recommend giving a it a try if most of its features sound positive to you.
