WinkBeds is an online mattress provider quickly earning a reputation for selling high-quality products at a price that’s less than half of comparable designs in department stores. They specialize in hybrid , or models that contain both foam and springs. Every report I’ve come across mentions how the company has found the perfect ratio of foam to springs, resulting in a product that provides plenty of support beneath a plush layer of comfort.
Stick around to read my own assessment of this product and see exactly what this innovative sleeping surface has to offer.
One of the first features to really grab my attention during my trial period was the number of layers included in the product. While two or three layers is common, the design includes an impressive five layers. The top layer is a blend of foams that’s 2” thick, providing a responsive and comfortable layer that greets your body.
The second layer features foam encased spring coils. This 2.5” layer provides pressure relief and encourages airflow. The third layer is 4” thick and provides an edge support system. It’s made of high density support foam that prevents sagging. The fourth layer features wrapped steel coils that provide consistent support. Finally, the fifth layer is 2” thick and is made of high density support foam.
The unique combination of layers gives this product the edge it needs against the competition. There aren’t many other designs in the same price range that include nearly as many layers or features as does this one.
I was impressed with the cover. It’s made from TENCEL, a unique material that’s softer than silk, cooler than linen, and more absorbent than cotton. It helps to naturally eliminate moisture. The botanical-based fabric is also eco-friendly and sustainable.
First Impression & Overnight Test (Firmness, Feel, & Support)
One of the main features that I couldn’t wait to try during my assessment was the coolControl. This only comes with the optional bed base so keep this in mind. You can use either the included remote or download the app to control your bed’s temperature. Each side can be separately set to either 10 degrees cooler or 30 degrees warmer. I loved the timer feature that let me guarantee the temperature would remain ideal the entire night.
Once I had the temperature set, I evaluated the firmness and support of the sleeping surface. The plush top layer gives you the feel of memory foam while the innerspring layer provides the perfect amount of bounce and the support you might be used to if you’ve never slept on a memory.
I found sinkage to be minimal during my WinkBed review. While the memory foam does contour to your body, you never feel like you’re sinking too far into the mattress.
The thick top layer helps to minimize motion transfer. But because there are springs in the mattress, you can expect a bit of bounce and movement. I didn’t find this to be too extreme during my WinkBed review.
My favorite feature during my WinkBed review was the coolControl. This optional feature allows you to control the temperature of each side of the mattress, similar to the technology you would find in a vehicle.
Firmness and support
The firmness level I experienced during my WinkBed review was soft enough for side sleepers yet supportive enough for back sleepers. I didn’t notice lasting impressions in the memory foam, a testament to the strong support provided by the innerspring layer.
After a week of trial period I realized I was becoming spoiled. The benefits of a hybrid design combined with the coolControl feature left me wondering if I would ever be able to sleep without this product again. We at Sleep Ask believe If you’re ready to sleep in a futuristic bed, it’s time to take a look at this design.
My test run introduced me to a company that uses a factory-direct production and sales model to provide hybrid designs containing a layer of foam and an innerspring layer for support. They offer a 101-night trial period for peace of mind geared towards consumers who are weary of not being able to try the product in person.
This product combines six distinctive features typically found in luxury designs costing more than twice the price. My time spent with this product taught me that this company's products have the top industry score for durability and that they’re ideal for just about any sleep position.
How Does It Compare?
Let’s take a look at some of the competition:
My conclusion is that the design is substantial and one of the better bed in a box options on the market. The level of luxury surpassed all my expectations. If you’ve been a loyal fan of foam in the past, I urge you to conduct your own assessment to see how much cooler the bed sleeps and how it’s possible to enjoy the softness of foam without getting stuck. While the design isn’t perfect for everyone, I’m confident that should you test run it you find it very attractive. Check out our other mattress reviews.
