The Shiloh is produced by Sleep Innovations, a leader and innovator in the mattress industry. They’ve combined years of research with high-quality materials to provide consumers with some fabulous mattress options, including the Sleep Innovations Shiloh.
The design is a memory foam model that utilizes a patented cell foam formula. This provides improved airflow without compromising the memory foam features consumers love.
Stick around to read my report on this product and see if it’s a good fit for your sleeping needs. No sleeping surface is perfect for every consumer but I believe this productwill appeal to a wide percentage of sleepers.
This product is made up of three unique layers. The top layer includes 2.5” of memory foam. It helps relieve pressure points while helping keep your bed cool. The design of the foam encourages warm air to push through the bed to areas containing cooler air. This doesn’t provide an overly cool sleeping surface but instead a temperature neutral surface that shouldn’t disturb your sleep.
The second layer includes another 2.5” of foam. But this foam includes air passageways that allows cooler air to flow freely to areas where warm air is gathering, like beneath your body while you sleep.
The final layer is made of strong support foam. This layer provides plenty of support, even with two thick layers of foam on top.
The cover is made from a polyester cotton blend. It’s easy to clean but needs to remain in excellent condition to protect your warranty.
First Impression & Overnight Test (Firmness, Feel, & Support)
My first impression focused on its firmness level. I would say it’s a medium firm feel. I would classify it as a universal comfort surface, meaning it’s ideal for side sleepers, back sleepers, and stomach sleepers.
I would describe my first night as luxurious. I enjoyed the neck, shoulder, and lower back support but I never felt like I was sleeping on too firm of a surface.
The morning after my first night I did feel a little stiff. But I think this was just my body getting used to the design because after a week of sleeping on it, I noticed I had more energy in the morning and that my joints didn’t ache as bad as they did when I slept on a traditional innerspring.
Sinkage, Motion Transfer, & Temperature
The level of sinkage you’ll experience with any foam mattress depends on your weight. I’m of average weight and experienced less than an inch of sinkage when I sat or lied down on the bed. I also found the edge support to be much better than most foam mattresses.
Memory foam mattresses are known for their ability to absorb virtually all motion and the Sleep Innovations Shiloh is no different. Whether your partner changes position frequently throughout the night or you have a dog that jumps on and off the bed all night, you should sleep undisturbed.
The unique and patented design of the Sleep Innovations Shiloh provides excellent air ventilation throughout the entire mattress. It doesn’t hold heat like other memory foam mattresses. The cover also helps moisture quickly evaporate so even if you’re a warm sleeper, you should enjoy a temperature neutral sleeping surface.
Firmness and support
The Sleep Innovations Shiloh is a medium firm mattress. This makes it ideal for most types of sleepers. It’s soft enough for side sleepers but firm and supportive enough for stomach and back sleepers. No matter your sleeping position, the Sleep Innovations Shiloh promotes proper spine alignment.
The main feature to keep in mind regarding this product is its patented cooling technology. Foam designs are known for their heat retention. If you’ve struggled with this in the past, you’ll love the air cooling chambers and unique foam included that helps push warmer air and cooler air together, neutralizing the temperature of your sleep surface.
How Does It Compare?
Let’s take a look at some of the competition:
Side sleepers often have a hard time finding a foam design that works for them. These are all wonderful options to consider but my test run left me confident in this product's ability to hold up under all types of pressure.
Side sleepers will love this product and what it has to offer as far as firmness and support. You can say goodbye to sore hips and thighs from overly firm sleeping surfaces. This product has some of the best cooling technology you’ll find in a foam design and the price should sit well with most budgets. Check out our other mattress reviews.
