The Purple mattress was invented by two brothers who specialize in manufacturing, design, and aerospace materials. Together, they invented Hyper-Elastic Polymer, the secret ingredient that leads to rave reviews for this product. The company has only been around for a few short years but with their unique marketing, affordable prices, and the promise of a pressure-free designs, they’ve quickly risen to the front of the bedding industry line.
With such an amazing reputation, I knew I had to put together my own assessment of these designs. I invite you to dive into this report with an open mind. This really is the first design of its kind, making it difficult to compare and describe. But what my assessment will inform you and might just blow you away.
This product is made up of three layers. The top layer is made up of 2” of Hyper-Elastic Polymer, the revolutionary material that allows the sleeping surface to be firm yet soft at the same time. There’s 3.5” of polyurethane foam beneath this to increase overall comfort. There’s a second layer of polyurethane foam beneath, serving as a base. This is a higher density foam so while it still aids in the overall comfort of the product, it also provides a strong and stable base.
The cover is made up of viscose, polyester, and polyester-lycra. Its design includes a quilted pattern that makes the cover soft to the touch and breathable in order to regulate the beds’ temperature.
First Impression & Overnight Test (Firmness, Feel, & Support)
The product claims to be firm and soft at the same time. I didn’t believe this was possible before I assessed it, but just a few moments on the sleeping surface made me a believer.
Here’s how it works. The Smart-Comfort Grid System ensures that each cell wall of the Hyper-Elastic Polymer invented by the company has a specific pressure threshold. So when you lie down, these walls release as their threshold is met and distribute weight and pressure to nearby walls. So heavier parts of your body, like your hips, sink comfortably into the bed while other areas that don’t need the support remain comfortably on top of the bed, which I loved.
After my first night of use, I understood what the company meant by saying their design doesn’t add pressure to your slumber. I had no discomfort upon awakening in the morning. I also noticed that I wasn’t too hot. I learned that it also regulates temperature, which was a great surprise. Overall, my assessment of the product left me a strong supporter of the company and their wonderful product.
Sinkage, Motion Transfer, & Temperature
It’s difficult to describe the sinkage of the Purple mattress, even after my extensive Purple mattress review. There is sinkage but it’s based on your weight and position. Unlike memory foam, you won’t feel your entire body sink into the mattress. Instead, you’ll only sink based on proper body alignment. It’s a feeling you have to experience during your Purple mattress review to fully comprehend.
If you’re used to the motion absorption of a memory foam mattress, you might be disappointed during your Purple mattress review. It’s not bad at absorbing motion but nothing does so as good as a memory foam mattress.
Purple combines their Hyper-Elastic Polymer with a high-quality foam. However, the layers are organized in such a way that while you get to experience the benefits of both materials during your Purple mattress review, they won’t trap air. I noticed during my Purple mattress review that the mattress always seemed to be neutral. It was never hot or cold. It was always perfect!
Firmness and support
The Purple mattress supports your body like a firm mattress but cradles certain parts of your body like a soft mattress would. This means you aren’t stuck choosing between the two firmness levels. The support is like no other. My Purple mattress review left me in awe of the technology behind this mattress.
It was hard to pick my favorite features. There are just so many. First, the design is soft where you want it to be and firm where you need it to be. It sleeps temperature neutral. It won’t hold heat but it won’t leave you freezing because of cooling materials.
Finally, the company promises no pressure, including from a store, on your wallet, or on your body. If that doesn’t convince you to conduct your own, I’m not sure what will.
How Does It Compare?
Let’s take a look at some competition:
Memory foam designs are great. I’ve slept on many and most of them provided me with a great night’s sleep. But there’s just something about these two brother's designs that makes it hard to go back to a memory foam.
The Purple has the softness of a memory foam but the support of an innerspring. It seems to have the best qualities of different types of sleeping surfaces while eliminating the negative aspects. It’s truly an advancement in bedding technology. If you’re a difficult-to-please consumer, I urge you to try this product. Check out our other mattress reviews.
