Welcome to my Morgedal foam mattress review. IKEA is known for their affordable home furnishings. They have something for just about every room in your home, including the bedroom. Their bedding line is versatile and their prices are competitive. Their website has descriptions and pictures of their products but if you’re close to a brick and mortar location, you might be able to check out their designs in person, which is always a plus. Or you can do what I did, which is take part in a test trial period.
I decided to conduct my own assessment to see if the product could hold up compared to the competition. I came to several conclusions, which I would love to share with you.
This is a smaller design, measuring just over 7” in height. It’s only made up of two layers. I took a close look at both during my trial period. The top layer is about 2.4” thick. It’s made from high-resilience polyurethane foam. This material will help the product retain its shape. The bottom layer is made from a basic polyurethane foam to provide support.
There’s nothing very special about the layers in this design. Though they’re still comfortable and supportive, there’s no added or infused materials to help regulate temperature or provide additional comfort benefits. As I’ll mention a few times this is not the design that’s going to solve your sleep problems. But it is an affordable option for certain situations and shouldn’t be completely ruled out from your list.
The cover is made from cotton and polyester. It’s removable, making it easy to wash it. But I still used a cover during my trial period.
First Impression & Overnight Test (Firmness, Feel, & Support)
For my trial period I chose the firm sleeping surface. This is ideal for back sleepers, which I am, and I was hoping it wouldn’t sag quickly. If you’re a side sleeper, I would recommend going with the medium firm but I didn’t assess this type of design.
The design I chose was firm in the center but I found the edges to be a bit soft. I would say the support was average. The product was comfortable enough but not the most comfortable I had ever slept on. I wasn’t overly impressed but for the price, I wasn’t disappointed either.
Sinkage, Motion Transfer, & Temperature
Sinkage during your Morgedal foam mattress review will depend on your weight. I weigh about 160 pounds and I definitely felt myself sink into the mattress a little more than I would like during my Morgedal foam mattress review. I would imagine that anyone over 200 pounds would be very uncomfortable using this mattress. But based on my Morgedal foam mattress review, anyone less than 120 pounds or so would probably enjoy minimal sinkage with the Morgedal.
The Morgedal is all foam, so it does absorb motion very well, something I noticed during my Morgedal foam mattress review.
There is no cooling technology included with the Morgedal. During my Morgedal foam mattress review, I did find myself sleeping warmer than I would like to. A cooling mattress pad could help.
Firmness and support
The Morgedal is offered in two different firmness levels. You can choose between medium firm and firm for your Morgedal foam mattress review.
This is a design that comes in under budget. It’s available in two different firmness levels and multiple sizes. The cover is removable, making it easy to keep clean. While it’s not an overly durable sleeping surface, it is a bargain that can provide you with a comfortable guest room bed or serve as the perfect first choice for your child’s room.
How Does It Compare?
Let’s take a look at some of the competition:
Though there are more comfortable options on the market, the product I tested during my trial period provided me with an incredibly affordable product that could be used in a variety of ways. Though I decided it wasn’t the best for nightly sleeping, I was still impressed with the value.
If you’re looking for a product for your master bedroom, this product probably isn’t your best option. If you’re tight on cash, it can work for several months or even a year. But it would best be used by a child or guests. My experience of this product left me believing that this design is well-priced and comfortable but it won’t provide you with the sleep you deserve over a long span of time.
