Best Morgedal Foam Mattress Review

Best Morgedal Foam Mattress Review

Welcome to my Morgedal foam mattress review. IKEA is known for their affordable home furnishings. They have something for just about every room in your home, including the bedroom. Their bedding line is versatile and their prices are competitive. Their website has descriptions and pictures of their products but if you’re close to a brick and mortar location, you might be able to check out their designs in person, which is always a plus. Or you can do what I did, which is take part in a test trial period.

I decided to conduct my own assessment to see if the product could hold up compared to the competition. I came to several conclusions, which I would love to share with you.

Ikea MATRAND Memory foam mattress

This  is a smaller design, measuring just over 7” in height. It’s only made up of two layers. I took a close look at both during my trial period.  The top layer is about 2.4” thick. It’s made from high-resilience polyurethane foam. This material will help the product retain its shape. The bottom layer is made from a basic polyurethane foam to provide support.

There’s nothing very special about the layers in this design. Though they’re still comfortable and supportive, there’s no added or infused materials to help regulate temperature or provide additional comfort benefits. As I’ll mention a few times this is not the design that’s going to solve your sleep problems. But it is an affordable option for certain situations and shouldn’t be completely ruled out from your list.

The cover is made from cotton and polyester. It’s removable, making it easy to wash it. But I still used a cover during my trial period.

Signature Sleep 12 Inch Memory Foam Mattress

First Impression & Overnight Test (Firmness, Feel, & Support)

For my trial period I chose the firm sleeping surface. This is ideal for back sleepers, which I am, and I was hoping it wouldn’t sag quickly. If you’re a side sleeper, I would recommend going with the medium firm but I didn’t assess this type of design.

The design I chose was firm in the center but I found the edges to be a bit soft. I would say the support was average. The product was comfortable enough but not the most comfortable I had ever slept on. I wasn’t overly impressed but for the price, I wasn’t disappointed either.

Best Morgedal Foam Mattress Review

This product won't be the last you ever buy. A Sleep Ask member quickly learned this during my trial period. However, it is an affordable option for a guest room, child’s room, or even your own bed if you’re in a pinch. For the low price, I actually found the comfort level I experienced  to be better than expected.

  • Multiple firmness levels
  • Inexpensive
  • 25-year limited warranty
  • 1 year exchange policy
  • Affordable option for guest room or child’s bedroom

  • Can sag quickly
  • Not ideal for sleeping on every night

Who Should Buy this Product?

Let me start by saying that during my trial period I learned that this design is comfortable. But the issue is that it’s thin and not made from anything other than average materials. With this being said, this model is best for either occasional sleeping or for children or very light adults. I noticed that sagging can quickly set in and the design isn’t the most supportive I’ve slept on.

I would recommend this product for either a child’s bedroom or a sparingly used guest room. It would also be great for a vacation home or even as an alternative for a sleeping bag during camping, though it would take a lot of work to take it with you. I found this product to be usable and valuable, just in its own way.

Key Features

This is a design that comes in under budget. It’s available in two different firmness levels and multiple sizes. The cover is removable, making it easy to keep clean. While it’s not an overly durable sleeping surface, it is a bargain that can provide you with a comfortable guest room bed or serve as the perfect first choice for your child’s room.

How Does It Compare?

Let’s take a look at some of the competition:

IKEA Matrand Memory Foam

Here’s another option from IKEA. It includes higher-end materials but you’ll pay more as well. It comes with a 25-year limited warranty so your investment is protected.

Signature Sleep 12 Inch Memory Foam

This product is much thicker than the one I tested and it’s still very affordable. It’s eco-friendly and provides a comfortable night’s sleep as it molds to your unique body shape for supreme support.

Signature Sleep 12 Inch Memory Foam Mattress

Modway Aveline 6” Gel Infused Memory Foam

The Modway  is a bit slimmer than the the design I tested but it includes gel for additional comfort and cooling. It helps to align your spine and reduce pressure on your hips, shoulders, and lower back.

Though there are more comfortable options on the market, the product I tested during my trial period  provided me with an incredibly affordable product that could be used in a variety of ways. Though I decided it wasn’t the best for nightly sleeping, I was still impressed with the value.

If you’re looking for a product for your master bedroom, this product probably isn’t your best option. If you’re tight on cash, it can work for several months or even a year. But it would best be used by a child or guests. My experience of this product left me believing that this design is well-priced and comfortable but it won’t provide you with the sleep you deserve over a long span of time.
