Helix Mattress Review

Helix Mattress Review

The Helix mattress is all about customization. I was surprised that my assessment of the product started with a quiz.. It only takes a couple minutes to complete and then the company uses the data to come up with a personalized  design just for you. Your product is then made to order and shipped directly to your door.

If any of this sounds intriguing, stick around to read my assessment of the product. I’ll fill you in on some of the most important factors regarding this revolutionary design, including what you can expect your first few nights and which key features you should keep in mind when deciding if you should buy this product.

Construction

Layers

Leesa Mattress

Because each sleeping surface is custom designed and constructed, there’s no set construction layout. But in general, the product is made up of three layers. The first is a latex-like foam called Helix Dynamic foam. It’s usually around 2” thick. The second layer consists of pocket coils and is usually just over 2”. The final layer is made of polyfoam. It’s 6” total with 4” of base layer foam and 2” of comfort layer foam. Be sure to take a look at your custom layers if you decide to buy one for yourself.

Cover

The cover is made from materials that are designed for breathability and comfort. The cover is also designed to give the product a sleek look. While it is removable, the company recommends that you leave the cover on and spot clean as needed, and use a protector cover, which I did during my assessment of the product.

Tuft & Needle Mattress

First Impression & Overnight Test (Firmness, Feel, & Support)

My assessment started with the decompression stage. This is longer than with most other boxed designs, but I think my report wouldn’t have been accurate without it. You should schedule about 72 hours for decompression. After this time had passed, I set up the bed and got started on the report.

Now keep in mind that my first impression regarding firmness and support might be drastically different than yours. Because the company makes each product to order, there are virtually no two designs that are identical.

I’ll take this portion of my report and focus on quality along with how the product felt. My sleeping surface was more firm than plush and more supportive than soft, which is just what I like in a bed. But what really caught my attention during my assessment was that the product felt like no other I had ever used. This made me a believer in the quality and accuracy of their customization process.

Who Should Buy this Product?

If you feel like you’ve tried every sleeping surface out there but not a single one seemed to have the combination of features you were after, it’s time to begin your own examination of this product. Take their quiz seriously, answer honestly, and sit back while the magic happens. This product is also great for couples who just can’t seem to make their sleeping  preferences work together.

Key Features

I’ve already mentioned how the  company customizes yourproduct. But what I’ve left out is one of their customizable options that really grabbed my attention.

They offer two options for couples. Once they have an idea of each partner’s preferences, they can either create a product with a blended design, marrying their separate preferences so that each sleeper gets their ideal sleeping surface no matter where they sleep on the bed. But there’s also a separated option where themodel is different on both sides, providing each sleeper with a side of the bed that’s 100% perfect for their needs. This company will help you decide which option is best for you.

How Does It Compare?

Let’s take a look at some competition:

Tuft & Needle

The Tuft & Needle boast a universal comfort design. It provides pressure relief and cools better than memory foam and latex. It has a bounce that many foam users miss but it still absorbs motion so that sleep goes undisturbed.

Tuft & Needle Mattress

Brooklyn Bedding Latex

Brooklyn Bedding allows consumers to choose between three comfort levels. While this does allow sleepers to sleep on a surface with their preferred firmness level, it doesn’t help couples who have different preferences.

Leesa

Here’s another product that claims to offer universal comfort by adapting to each user’s body weight, shape, and sleeping style. It’s made with premium materials, including Avena, which helps provide a cooler sleeping surface. However, there’s only one firmness level available. Check out the full Leesa mattress review.

While I believe all of these designs to be some of the best in their class, nothing compares with a customised  sleeping surface. My assessment of this product left me wondering why no one has thought of offering a customized sleeping surface before.

Verdict

Overall, I was impressed during my Helix. I loved how the company takes the time to not just personalize your product but actually make it to order. I’ve never come across another bedding company that takes the time to get to know each of their customers on such a personal level.

If you’re tired of the “one size fits all” approach, it’s time to look at this product.  The difference might just give you the best night of sleep you’ve ever had. Check out our other mattress reviews.
